How do we restore an Aga Range Cooker?

– After being stripped down, all internal parts are shot blasted to bring the inner cast components back to their original state.
– The front plate, doors, lids/lid rings and top undergo the standard high vitreous enamel process in a colour of your choice.
– All other component parts are then replaced, including lid and liners, door cords, towel rails, chrome cooker lids and spring handles.
– Finally, the hot plates are skimmed, leaving them clean and looking like new again.

Reconditioned Aga Range Cookers – FAQs

How much is a reconditioned Aga Range Cooker?

Our Reconditioned Aga Range Cookers vary in price depending on size and model. These range from as little as £4,500 up to £9,450 which is a huge saving in comparison to a brand new model. There are also several add ons we can offer such as hobs, modules and programmable burners for an additional cost. For an accurate quotation including delivery and installation, we suggest sending us an email with your postcode and requirements so we can give you a range of options to choose from.

Is an Aga Range Cooker expensive to run?

We think not, obviously fuels vary and fluctuate in price. An aga range cooker is so much more than a cooker and when you factor in all the tasks it is able to undertake, we really think its value for money.

A gas aga range cooker is cheapest to run at circa £15-£25 per week, oil £20 -£30 per week and electric £20 -£60 per week depending on the model you go for.
When you think these cookers provide room heat, clothes drying, kettle boiling, toasting, grilling, baking and frying – they are really very efficient.

How do I clean an Aga Range Cooker?

Aga Range Cookers are very low maintenance and require very little daily attention. The key thing is to keep on top of any spills, as they are much easier to clean up before the spillage bakes on to the hot enamel. Daily wiping is best done with microfibre cloths, one for cleaning and one for polishing to avoid smears. For more stubborn staining the Aga Range Cooker is best worked on cold. It is imperative that any products that are used on any of the enamelled surfaces are approved by the vitreous enamel association.

Astonish is a good product for stubborn burnt on grease stains. Internally, any cooking spills will burn off the cast iron so don’t worry about this. The cast iron doesn’t require cleaning. When the Aga Range Cooker is switched off the ovens and hot plates may benefit from a wire brushing. Any excess food/grease that has been removed with the wire brush can then be swept out with a dustpan and brush.

How do I cook on an Aga Range Cooker?

Whether you own a 2, 3 or a 4 oven Aga Range Cooker the most important thing to remember is that at least 80 per cent of cooking should be done in the ovens. If the lids are up the heat is escaping.

Our own golden rule is if it takes more than 6 minutes to cook on the top, then it should be in an oven. Because your cooker is always on and ready to use, there is no need to wait for the oven to heat up, perfect for cooking “fast food” even faster. 2 oven models include a “roasting” oven which is around 220-240 degrees and a “simmering” oven which is around 120-140 degrees. 3 oven models have an additional baking oven which is around 160-180 degrees and the 4 ovens have a warming oven which is typically 60-80 degrees.

How do you service an Aga Range Cooker?

A service on an Aga cooker should always be carried out by a certified Aga engineer who is gas safe or Oftec registered. It is important to keep up with regular servicing to maintain the efficiency and longevity of your Aga and to complete all the necessary safety checks. Aga range cookers running on oil should be serviced every 6 months and gas every 12 months. Electric Aga range cookers are recommended to have a health check every 2.5 years.
